Amaranthus tricolor 'Perfecta'

  • Product number: 503450
  • Origin: Tropical America
  • Latin: Amaranthus tricolor

Sometimes it takes a while to appreciate a plant! That's what happened to me with this variety; I used to find them far too colorful. Now I say: what a cheerful, fresh color combination! The plant starts with narrow green leaves with purple vein-like markings. At the top, cheerful rosettes of narrow leaves form in bright shades of green, yellow, and burgundy. Height 40 cm. The leaves are edible, but of course, it's mainly an eye-catcher in the border or in pots.

Sowing method: April-June directly into the ground. First, rake the soil thoroughly, then evenly scatter the seeds (possibly mixed with dry sand) and lightly rake them in. Finally, press down with a plank, hand, or roller. Pre-sowing and transplanting is also possible. The more space between plants, the more side shoots and the taller the main stem will be.
