Spawn - Stropharia (Godzilla Mushroom)

  • Product number: 415300.1
  • Origin: North America, Europe
  • Latin: Stropharia rugosa-annulata

ALWAYS FRESHLY HARVESTED! This popular mushroom has the same colour distribution as the well-known Porcini mushroom but belongs to a different family. Both the cap and stem are edible and very aromatic. Although harvested young yields the finest texture, the mushroom can also grow up to 30 cm in diameter. Delicious for stuffing with dishes, but remove the gills... The nickname "Godzilla Mushroom" is understandable!

Cultivation: The spawn we provide is sufficient for 15-20 kg of wood chips (without softwood) or straw. Ensure that both base materials are fresh or dried, so that no competing fungi are active. You can fill large plastic bags with the material; a medium-sized Styrofoam container or pots will also suffice. Thoroughly wet the material with hot water, drain excess water, and let it cool. Then, add a small clump of spawn layer by layer and, for example, hang the bags. The fastest growth of the fungus occurs at a temperature of 18-22°C. Cultivation in a straw bale is also possible: place the straw bale on an old pallet, off the ground, to prevent an influx of woodlice and slugs. Soak the straw bale thoroughly and distribute the spawn approximately 10 cm deep into the straw bale. Keep the bale moist in dry weather. There are many more tips and tricks; see the internet.
