ORGANICALLY GROWN POTATOES.
This new potato from Plantera was originally named BIM 13-678-01 and now has the provisional name Oscar. It's a versatile potato, falling between waxy and floury. Delicious on your plate, but also very popular as a chip potato! This variety combines a good yield with very high resistance to late blight in the foliage. This makes 'Oscar' very popular with organic growers.
MEDIUM-EARLY ORGANIC VARIETY.
A medium-early variety means it can be harvested from August onwards. You can harvest a few weeks earlier by planting earlier. Planting time is from mid-April, when the soil is warm enough. Pre-sprouting in light or in a large pot can be done earlier. Do not plant them in too wet a spot, but ensure they get plenty of sun. Medium-early varieties can suffer from the dreaded potato blight (Phytophthora infestans). Some preventive measures include: spacious planting, fertilizing with potash, not spraying water over the plant, and possibly organic spraying with sulfur or silinal. The average planting distance is 70x40 cm; we recommend 80x40 cm to prevent diseases.
