An ancient crop (3000 BC), originally from Africa, now widely cultivated in the Far East. One of the world's most important oilseed crops! In our climate, summer cultivation is successful. The plant can reach a height of 2m in a greenhouse and 1m outdoors. The white trumpet flowers sometimes have a red throat. Oil is pressed from the seeds. The seeds add a nutty flavour to dishes, and the taste becomes significantly spicier after roasting.
Its detoxifying effect has been proven to be more medicinal. A sesame diet also increases resistance to UV light.
All in all, a fascinating plant to have in your garden!
A farmer sows 500g for 1000 m², but denser sowing is permitted.
