Most verbenas produce flower clusters; "hastata" means "spear-shaped," and the inflorescence of this beautiful species is in an elongated cluster. Furthermore, this species has the characteristic open growth habit of common vervain, grows 60-90 cm high, and has beautiful, purplish-blue (sometimes pink or white) spire-shaped flower clusters that bloom from bottom to top. It's a very important plant for butterflies! As a medicinal herb: calming and sudorific. Flowering period from June to September.
