This perennial savory has a spicier taste than the annual variety, so use it sparingly. Give them a sunny, not too wet spot (on a mound in clay soil, for example). For ornamental purposes, the plants can be used as a small hedge, for instance. When growing freely, the plant adorns itself with light pink to white labiate flowers in late summer.
