There is no other basil that tastes and smells as distinctly fresh of lemon as this African variety. Our supplier found the plants on the island of Unguja in Zanzibar and at first thought he was standing next to a lemon tree. For us, this was, of course, sufficient reason to propagate this unique variety. The cultivation is the same as for all basil, the result will make many professional and amateur chefs' hearts beat faster! The plants grow compactly up to 30 cm high and flower white.
Basil likes warmth and high humidity. The leaves are widely used in the preparation of soups, sauces, fish dishes, herbs, vinegar and pickles.
