This beloved garlic produces quite large bulbs with a purple-striped skin, and the cloves are easily separated. One of the best overwinterers, this variety is grown as far north as Lapland and can therefore withstand cold very well. The flavour is robust, but not too hot, with a fine, rather light aftertaste, and a musky aroma is discernible.
How delicious can also be beautiful... (or vice versa). This tasty member of the garlic family grows with 1 or more curls in the stem and is (thereby) particularly decorative. Spiral garlic is called "hardneck garlic" in English and is generally stronger in flavour than the so-called softneck varieties.
