A strongly flavored garlic with a beautiful purple-striped outer skin. Eat a clove raw and you will experience the complex taste: the heat builds up quickly, perhaps a tear in the eye, but disappears just as quickly without a hot aftertaste. The bulbs root very actively and are very winter-hardy; storage is (as is normal for a Rocambole-type) very good.
How tasty can also be beautiful... (or vice versa). This flavorful member of the garlic family grows with 1 or more curls in the stem and is (therefore) particularly decorative. Spiral garlic is called hardneck garlic in English and is generally stronger in flavor than the so-called softneck varieties.
