ORGANICALLY GROWN! This is a fairly large, white garlic. Both the bulb and cloves (5-15 per bulb) are white. It was one of the first modern improvements of the old ‘Blanc de la Drôme’ variety and is now considered a benchmark (reference) for later selections. Grows very healthily with a good yield. Due to its mild, sweet taste, this variety has a wide range of uses, both for baking and cooking, and also for raw consumption in salads.

Garlic can be planted year-round, provided the cloves are in good condition. Most varieties are available in autumn and winter. We stock varieties that are successfully grown in the Netherlands. Immediately after receipt, break open the bulb and plant the cloves in the ground: 2-5 cm deep and 10-20 cm apart. When planted in autumn, the garlic will emerge in February (or earlier) and can be harvested in June-July. Planted later, of course, means a later harvest. Harvesting is not obligatory; garlic is winter-hardy and can simply remain in the ground. After harvesting, braid the foliage as you sometimes see garlic in stores and dry the bulbs in the sun. In a room, they can sometimes be stored for up to a year! Cultivation is not difficult, but you can find good tips in our cultivation description in PDF (see bottom of the website). Garlic is said to deter aphids in roses, for example, worth a try!
