Garden Cress 'Common Green'

  • Product number: 301000.1
  • Origin: Middle East
  • Latin: Lepidium sativum

The most well-known "microgreen", you sow them on cotton wool as a child! They can also be grown as sprouts (without light in a rinsing tray) then the sprouts remain white, just like alfalfa. The most common method is growing them on cotton wool, kitchen paper, or a thin layer of soil. Cut them when young and mix them into salads or put them on bread with a little sugar and lemon... Less known in the Netherlands is growing them as a regular plant in the garden: you can harvest the fresh leaves all year round!

Sowing method: All year round! First, rinse the seeds well. Sow densely in a light spot and harvest when the seedlings are 5 cm tall. Grows on wet cotton wool, kitchen paper, soil – in short, anything that retains moisture. The seedlings can also continue to grow in a larger pot or, from April onwards, in the garden, then harvest the leaves.
