This heirloom beefsteak tomato was introduced in 1781 by Thomas Jefferson and is still considered a top-tasting variety among warm yellow to light orange tomatoes. The fruits grow large (400-500g) and maintain a smooth skin. Most years they yield a large harvest, so tie them up securely!
Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same spot, for example in a greenhouse? Then diseases can develop in the soil, which rootstocks are resistant to, making grafting advisable:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As a tool, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.
The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato owes its name to the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.
