A cross between two beautiful tomatoes: Beauty King x P20 (also known as OSU Blue).
We have both original varieties in our assortment, so you can see what comes out when the genes mix. King Blue is now (2022) in its 6th generation, so it is almost stable, with only a few outliers from time to time. It is assumed that tomatoes need about seven generations (=F7) until the new variety is 100% "pure" again from seed.
King Blue has orange fruits with a strong blue top; the sunnier the year, the more blue. This is all thanks to the healthy substance anthocyanin, which is also found in, for example, eggplant, cherries, and blueberries. For a beefsteak tomato, King Blue is not very large (100-200 g); the surprise comes when you cut it open, because the flesh is orange-yellow with a pink central spot! The taste is wonderfully fruity, and we hope this one "stays." (photo: organicseeds.top)
The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato owes its name to the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.
