This gigantic Italian tomato lays the foundation for a weight record! It's a selection from the common Pomodoro Gigante; we spent years selecting the largest ones for further cultivation. The taste, by the way, has not suffered at all; it's fantastic, and if you let multiple fruits hang on a truss, you'll simply harvest large beefsteak tomatoes. For competitions (with yourself or others), you should allow only 1 fruit per truss to develop.
The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato gets its name from the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.
