The name reveals its origin: this historic Russian tomato is one of the earliest harvestable varieties, as early as 50 days after transplanting! The harvest is remarkably good, the fruits weigh about 150 grams and have a remarkably good flavour, which naturally increases as the summer progresses. The plant remains in good condition for a long time and continues to ripen well even in a cold autumn. Due to the early harvest, the first crop outsmarts the notorious disease Phytophthora. In northern or very southern regions (Alaska, Scandinavia, Southern Chile, Southern Australia, etc.) this is a remarkably successful tomato.
Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same place, for example in a greenhouse (or mini-greenhouse)? Then diseases can develop in the soil, to which rootstocks are resistant, and where grafting is therefore recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As a tool, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.
This group of tomatoes is a size between cherry tomato and beefsteak tomato: medium-sized. Each has a unique character. The climbing varieties ripen somewhat later than the compact varieties and are therefore more successful under rain protection: a lean-to, greenhouse or grow tunnel.
