Through traditional, natural cross-breeding, a handful of highly resistant tomatoes are currently emerging. 'Mountain Magic' is one such very strong yet flavourful red tomato, resistant to fungi such as late blight (Phytophthora, the early form, but also resistant to strains Pink6 and Blue13 due to the introgressed genes Ph-2 and Ph-3), Verticillium wilt, and Fusarium. Its sweet, aromatic taste makes this variety extra popular; in professional cultivation, it's called a truss tomato with the taste of Tasty Tom. You can compare the taste to the much-loved old variety Brandywine. The round fruits are not prone to cracking and weigh approximately 50-80 grams each.
Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same place, for example in a greenhouse (or mini-greenhouse)? Then diseases can develop in the soil, which rootstocks are resistant to, and thus grafting is recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As a tool, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.
This group of tomatoes is sized between cherry tomatoes and beefsteak tomatoes: medium-sized, in other words. Each has its own unique character. The climbing varieties ripen somewhat later than the compact varieties and are therefore more successful under rain protection: a lean-to, greenhouse, or grow tunnel.
