What a beauty! Harvest these large Chinese radishes when the tubers are 10 cm in diameter; the above-ground part of the tubers are bright red, while the light pink colour hides underground. The great secret is revealed when you cut the tuber: From the centre, a deep pinkish-red fades to white and is finished with a sharp red edge: attractive for salads and fresh, juicy, and pleasantly spicy in flavour. Sowing from June onwards gives the best results.
