Small, sweet, and fruitful! The butternut squash is enjoying increasing popularity. The ratio of seeds to flesh is favourable, and the skin is easily peeled. I therefore see a great future for this smallest butternut in the world (I am writing in 2016). Delicious for stuffing and much sweeter than its larger counterparts. One plant produces twice as many fruits, weighing 250-400 grams, and powdery mildew (fungus) usually stays away. This variety is a cultivated product by Michael Mazourek (Vegetable Breeding Institute, Cornell University) and came onto the market around 2012.
Squash can be grown outdoors without problems. The growing tips can be pruned regularly and are edible! Harvesting in dry weather provides the best storability. All squash are edible! For some varieties, we list synonyms, which are the names under which the variety is also known. For other varieties, we list very similar types; if you have a clear preference for one of the listed varieties, please specify it clearly.
