Pepper 'Pimiento de Piquillo'

  • Product number: 209262
  • Origin: Northern Spain
  • Latin: Capsicum annuum

This pepper has a sweet taste and is slightly hot. The large fruits are 7 cm long, pointed with a broad shoulder. Very suitable for growing in pots due to its compact growth: the height is approximately 60 cm. This type has traditionally been grown in northern Spain near Lodosa. The name is Spanish for 'little beak'. In its country of origin, these peppers are hand-picked starting in September. They are roasted over coals, which gives them a sweet, spicy flavor. The taste is more like that of bell pepper than chili pepper, despite their small size. Then they are hand-peeled and deseeded before being placed in jars with salt water or canned. They are also often filled with meat, fish, or cheese, roasted, and served as tapas. They can also simply be eaten whole or cut into pieces and added to risotto, pasta, sauces, pizzas, or soups.
