A traditional Turkish variety with an oval-round shape, ocher-yellow skin with dark green spots and a rough, wrinkled surface. The sweet flesh is whitish to light orange in colour. The fruit is also a delicacy when slightly unripe and is used in Turkish cuisine, stuffed with, for example, meat, onions, almonds, pine nuts, pepper, salt and parsley: Kavun Dolmasi... a dish that has been known since around 1300. The fruits weigh approximately 4-5 kg, and transport is not a problem due to their thick skin. We chose this variety because of its fairly good resistance to cold. Nevertheless, this variety is better grown in a greenhouse in our climate.
