A fairly large, flattened white headed cabbage. This old variety dates from before 1900 and is standard in the oldest catalogues I know of. This variety is still popular because of its tender taste and good processing properties for sauerkraut. Cabbages of 5-8 kg are common, so why not organize a competition with this variety!
