A special variety of broccoli, whose leaves have a remarkably tasty, sweet broccoli flavor! Of course, the plant also flowers, but the florets are not as numerous, though still delicious! Harvest the leaves young for a salad mix or let them mature into blue-grey, pointed, and wavy leaves (beautiful plants!) for a delightful stew... In Tuscany, this stew is called "Ribollita" and is very popular in winter. More recipes at http://www.mariquita.com/recipes/spigariello.html
The cabbage can tolerate a few degrees of frost, just like kale and collard greens. Also very decorative in a pot!
