A delicacy in Eastern Turkey! There they are called Acur (Adjoer). At first glance, you might think you're dealing with a small cucumber or gherkin, but botanically speaking, this is a melon! The taste also proves this: the freshness of cucumbers, but the sweet hint of a melon. The light green fruits have dark green stripes and can be eaten whole when harvested young (up to 10 cm). In Turkey (Gaziantep), the fruits are harvested at a length of 15 cm, the seeds are removed and filled with minced meat, pureed almonds, a pepper, and vegetables. Then into the oven: mmmm!
Melon cucumber (Flexuosus group) Elongated, cucumber-like fruits with a firm, fresh, yet melon-sweet taste experience. We have classified them with cucumbers because of their shape.
