The subtle and elegant, lemon-yellow to yellow-green pods of 'Opal Creek' are an attractive eye-catcher in the vegetable garden. This striking variety is the first yellow sugar snap pea available to gardeners. The robust plants (height 180-200 cm) produce excellent yields of 7-8 cm pods with a sweet, fresh pea flavour, which can be eaten deliciously raw or added to stir-fries. The leaves and shoots of these climbing plants are also edible and have a pleasantly sweet taste.
Deliciously sweet and with a soft skin. You don't have to shell the peas, just remove the tips and the string. Do pick them reasonably young. Stew them briefly or eat them raw in salads!
