A beautiful historical variety from France. Medium green, elongated type with light green stripes and speckles. This variety can grow large; for typical zucchini applications, only young fruits (harvest early!) are suitable. Treat older fruits like a pumpkin.

Zucchinis can be grown outdoors without problems. This variety is non-trailing; the fruits grow from the center of
the plant. For consumption, harvest the fruits when young to very young. For ornamental purposes, let them grow larger, then they can be stored.

(Too) large harvest? Bake a quantity of sliced courgettes, onions, and garlic. Then purée and freeze. After thawing, this forms an excellent base for soups when combined with broth. If the courgette is quite large: Peel and deseed, then completely peel into ribbons with a peeler or cheese slicer, creating beautiful white courgette strips. Sprinkle with salt and let drain. Afterwards, mix well with two generous tablespoons of chopped chives, the same amount of burnet leaves, and the same amount of mayonnaise. This makes a delicious salad for approximately 4 to 8 people, depending on the courgette. For every 15 cm of courgette length and a circumference of 25 cm, it's enough for 1 to 2 people, depending on whether it's a main course or a side dish…
