Bush dry bean. A beautiful, historical variety whose original descriptions date back to before 1880. Originating from an American collector, actually unknown in Northern Europe, but it has performed very well here, as proven by several years of trials. The good taste, beautiful appearance (cream with wine-red spots) and rather round seed shape make this variety a welcome addition to the Vreeken family….
Dry beans are harvested in different ways. Some varieties can also be eaten with the whole pod, while others can only be eaten fresh or (mature) dry. Tip for storing dry beans: to prevent any bean fly eggs from hatching, place the well-dried beans in the freezer for 24 hours.
