This hybrid is an absolute hit for those who don't want to wait for a mediocre summer. 'Violet Knight' is a paragon of vigor and health; the plants are robust, disease-resistant, and produce with almost unprecedented diligence. The fruits are a feast for the eyes: slender, elegant, and deep glossy purple-violet (almost black-purple when fully ripe). They grow to about 15 to 20 cm long and have that coveted 'banana shape'. In the kitchen, it's a dream: the flesh is creamy white, silky soft in texture, and virtually free of that annoying bitterness. Because it contains few seeds, this variety is excellent for grilling, stir-frying, or a classic moussaka.
