This very productive Amaranth, which forms large hanging rose-red clusters, grows to over 1 m tall and is also ornamental for the garden or excellent as a cut flower. The green leaves have more or less (but certainly ornamental) red spots.
The seed to be harvested is rose-red, the seed yield is quite good: on average 1.2 kg per 10 m².
EXTRA PRODUCTIVE SELECTION!
As with other members of the genus Amaranthus, the tender leaves of especially young plants can be eaten like spinach. When flower clusters ripen, the seeds can be harvested: very healthy (for example, popped in the oven at 130°C) in muesli. The newly sprouted seeds (sprouts) are also healthy and nutritious. The seeds can also be baked into bread or cooked with rice.
