A historic Swiss variety originating from the mountain town of Bristen. This variety combines deep-set eyes with white flesh and a light brown, red, or blue skin. Harvestable relatively early, firm flesh, and an old-fashioned "earthy" potato taste.
Our Swiss potato enthusiast Stefan Griesser grows interesting potatoes from seed and develops them into well-reproducible seed-bearing varieties. We are including some of these varieties in our assortment, hoping that hobbyists or small growers will enjoy cultivating them. Sowing potatoes is a fun adventure, which is common practice for breeders of new varieties! The initial cultivation is similar to tomatoes: sow, prick out, and plant out in April-May (no night frost!)
