Grower Stefan Griesser. (Blue Eyes x Phureja Dreams)
This descendant of Solanum phureja (a different species from the common potato) is primarily quite resistant to Phytophthora. It is a potato that stores quite well: firm to slightly floury, crispy, fresh, in short, uniquely flavored! Try to grow them evenly, never let them dry out, improve heavy soil a bit. This delicacy deserves some extra attention... The round tubers have a pinkish-red skin and light yellow flesh, sometimes with a red ring. Chefs honor this type with the designation "ancient potato"; it has an intense "wild" potato flavor and a relatively high carotene content! They yield a large harvest.
Our Swiss potato enthusiast Stefan Griesser grows interesting potatoes from seed and develops well-reproducible seed-bearing varieties from them. We are including some of these varieties in our assortment, hoping that hobbyists or small growers will enjoy cultivating them. Sowing potatoes is a fun adventure, which is common practice for breeders of new varieties! The initial cultivation is just like with tomatoes: sow, prick out, and plant out in April-May (no night frost!)
