The special thing about this sorrel is that it doesn't bloom. This variety diligently continues to produce new leaves! Delicious: a few young leaves (for a lemon flavour) in a salad, don't use too much. Sorrel porridge or 'blommepap' is a traditional dish: (butter)milk, flour, raisins, sugar, syrup and sorrel…. Tasty! Sorrel in soup makes it more robust and healthier! The roots are also edible. Medicinally, sorrel has detoxifying, laxative, fever-reducing, and bowel-regulating effects.
