This creeping relative (10-15 cm high) of the common blackberry blooms beautifully with pink flowers, which then develop (self-pollinating) into deliciously sweet, small red fruits. In Scandinavia, the plant is a delicacy! In winter, the plant disappears underground, so it is not a shrub but a perennial, very hardy! The plants grow best in sun to partial shade.
