A remarkable and historic onion! The bulbs produce new growth (offsets) in the ground, and "aerial bulblets" (topsets) form at the top of the stems, sometimes alongside a few flowers, which then also sprout. So, growth in layers. Besides being fascinating, this hardy onion also adds a nice zing to salads.
If the bulbs are not available, we can often supply the plants in spring: 831490
