The ‘Halle’sche Riesen’ is a vigorously growing variety, highly productive with large, glossy nuts. Plant at least 2 different varieties for good pollination. Hazelnuts prefer moist but well-drained soil.
Hazelnuts produce hazelnuts, a well-known and healthy nut that is often paired with chocolate! The ripe nuts fall from the bush on their own (in September); pick them up regularly. Hazelnuts form large bushes that can be kept well-shaped with some pruning. Give the bushes a spacing of 2-3 m from each other. Both male and female flowers grow on the same plant; they are wind-pollinated. Self-pollination is unfavorable, so cross-pollination is necessary.
