This bag contains a culture that has already been started for you on a sawdust growing medium. If you see white-brown growths, do not worry, even if it doesn't look pretty. These bumps are the precursors to mushroom formation. From these bumps, the delicious Shiitake mushrooms will later grow! You start cultivation as follows: 1. Make some openings in the plastic of the grow kit and then place the kit in daylight for a few weeks; a north-facing windowsill is ideal. Leave the kit until about 50% of its surface starts to turn brown. 2. After this period, remove the plastic bag. 3. Now immerse the kit in a bucket of cold tap water (48 hours). Place a heavy object on the kit to keep it fully submerged. 4. Remove the kit from the water and place it on a plate. Place the kit back in the light at a temperature of 15ºC. Not in direct sunlight, but, for example, in a north-facing window. To prevent dehydration, ensure there is ± 2–3 cm of water in the plate and spray the kit 2–3 times a day with a plant sprayer. If it dries out too much, you can place an inverted, transparent plastic bag, in which you have cut 4 round holes (at the top) with a diameter of 2–3 cm, over the culture as a kind of mini-greenhouse. 5. The harvesting period is about 1 week, and the mature mushrooms have a cap diameter of 4–8 cm. 6. After a harvest, the kit needs a resting period of at least 15 days. So, remove the kit from the windowsill and store it in a place that is not too dry and not too warm, preferably a cellar (without plastic). 7. After these 15 days (or later), repeat the steps from point 3. The 2nd harvest period is after 5–10 days. It is possible to harvest approximately 5–8 times over a maximum of 6 months. GOOD LUCK WITH THIS PERFECT MUSHROOM, WHICH CHINESE BELIEVE HAS MEDICINAL PROPERTIES!
