Large plants with abundant production! In the garden, the plants can reach a height of 1.5 m; in a (large) pot, this is somewhat more modest... The late summer bloom attracts a huge number of insects! Since the plant thrives in shaded areas (where there is otherwise little bloom), this is very welcome. The fresh, slightly sweet mint flavour with a hint of ginger is popular for both fresh and dried use in salads, cooked dishes, and tea. The flowers are also popular in drinks and ice cream. This mint owes its name to its red stems and young, reddish-tinged leaves.

Most mint (or mint) species of the genus Mentha grow in the sun or in the shade. In the sun, the most compact growth and the most intense colour, scent, and flavour develop. Each species goes through 2 growth stages: in spring, there is a growth spurt upwards before flowering. After that, horizontally (rapidly) growing runners appear, which develop into new plants elsewhere. Bees and butterflies love mint flowers.
