A breathtakingly beautiful small iris from North America. Fairly compact growth (20-40 cm), with 1-4 flowers per stem: 3 light blue to white outer petals with attractive veins, 3 smaller, light blue and pointed inner petals, and 3 light blue crests. The plants are very hardy, spread underground, and prefer good drainage. Native Americans used the root for toothache.
