This shade-loving, beautiful look is (though very rare) naturalised in the Netherlands. Like wild garlic, this few-flowered leek is a true treat for onion and garlic lovers! It's smart to first plant a patch of this leek. They grow easily, and you'll soon be able to harvest the leaves and flowers: both have a subtle and fine onion flavour with a hint of garlic.
Ornamental onions (or Alliums) are particularly popular! They bloom from May, a time when garden chairs can come out!
