This Cape member of the Iris family produces bizarrely beautiful flowers! The fleshy leaves develop in stages, and from these emerge large, starfish-shaped flowers in summer with decorative purplish-brown edges and spots. The flower edges are decoratively curled. The strangely sweet scent attracts insects both day and night. Despite its exotic appearance, cultivation is not complicated; keep the plants frost-free in winter. Height 50 cm.
