The sand leaf (bottom leaf) provides a nice thin cover for the cigar, the middle leaves are firm and leathery, carrying a distinctive and powerful aroma in the slender, delicate leaves. Favorite filler for the cigar and makes shag or cigarettes more characteristic and fuller in flavor. A distinctive addition to a blend, due to the spicy effect.
A “blend” (mixture) is composed of several varieties in varying concentrations to obtain an interesting aroma.

Sowing method: February-April indoors at 20-25°C or outdoors in May (in a warm, shady spot). Always pre-sow in a seed tray. Sowing medium cocopeat with silver sand, sieve the top layer extra finely (kitchen sieve). Spread the seeds over the seedbed, press lightly and mist to moisten: it's a light germinator! Transplant in potting soil in good time to prevent growth stagnation. The plants can go outdoors in May, as soon as the weather becomes consistently warmer.
