Potatoes 'Picasso'

(1992) Cross between Cara x Ausonia, breeder Duoplant. This modern potato yields a very large harvest of oval-round, light brown tubers with pink discoloration around the shallow eyes. The variety is very resistant to fatigue and viruses and sufficiently immune to Phytophthora. This storage potato is slightly waxy to rather floury with a fine texture, making it widely applicable.

MAIN CROP VARIETY FOR GOURMETS.
A main crop variety means it can be harvested from September onwards. Early planting can move this forward by a few weeks. Planting time is from mid-April, when the soil is warm enough. Pre-sprouting in light or in a large pot can be done earlier. Do not plant in too wet a spot, but ensure it gets plenty of sun. Main crop varieties can suffer from the dreaded potato blight (Phytophthora infestans). Some preventive measures include: spacious planting, fertilizing with patentkali, no spraying water on the plant, and possibly organic spraying with sulfur or silinal. The average planting distance is 70x40 cm, we recommend maintaining 80x40 cm to prevent diseases.
